A Colorful Butterfly
by Carol McFarland
Hello! So glad you stopped by the Poppystamps blog today. I have a simple layered butterfly card for you using the 2779 Nordic Whisper Butterfly dies, the 2757 Diamond Oval Pinpoint Background die, and one of the 2764 Fine Eyelet Frames dies. I think the frame and background dies combine well to focus the attention on the pretty butterfly.

I love how the Fine Eyelet Frame is so clean but has the pretty detailed border. The Diamond Oval Pinpoint Background die has lots of beautiful detail and makes a nice frame behind the Fine Eyelet Frame.

I made the colorful butterfly by ink blending bright colors of distress ink on a piece of white card stock. I blended a blue area, a yellow and orange area, a coral and pink area. I wanted single and duo shaded areas to cut solid color wings and ombré color wings too. Not only can you make the wings colorful, but the details in the dies are so whimsical from one wing section to the next with lines, dots and open circles to see through to the wing behind it.

Look at the details a little closer. The three layers of wings are so much prettier than a single layer butterfly and all the patterns just make me smile!

Here is another view of the layers and details in this butterfly die set. I opted to use silver card stock for the body/antennae to fancy it up a bit for this card. I think black is a nice look too, or a contrasting color to the wing color you use. The butterflies also look really nice in solid card stock for a clean look.
Our July challenge, Things with Wings, is still going on until the end of the month, so join us with birds, butterflies and other Poppystamps products. We require at least one Poppystamps product on your card. It will be a beautiful gallery!
Thanks for visiting today!
