Share the Love
by Jinny Newlin

Morning, y’all!  It’s Jinny here today, sharing a card, highlighting one of our new, Spring 2017 Release dies, Butterfly Trio, and Birch Press Design’s gorgeous, Watercolor Wildflowers stamp set.  Enjoy!

I started this card by stamping the floral images, from the Watercolor Wildflowers stamp set, in layers of Tumbled Glass, Broken China, and Dusty Concord Distress Inks, as well as Squeezed Lemonade and Spiced Marmalade Distress Inks, on watercolor paper.  Their stems were stamped in Peeled Paint Distress Ink, before everything was spritzed with a little water to blend and soften the colors.  Once it was dry, I splattered some of the same ink colors used above, along with Pure Black acrylic paint, across the background.  Everything was then sprayed with a Pearl mist, which I know isn’t showing up in these photos, just for a little shimmer and shine.

The bottom center of the prepped piece was then stamped, in Jet Black ink, with the “share the love” sentiment, from our Be Mine Penguins stamp set, before framing it with both Elegant Eggplant cardstock and gold-threaded, straight, machine stitching.

It was then popped off the surface of the white, cardstock, card face with foam tape.  The Stitched Butterfly Trio was die-cut from vellum.  The larger two butterflies were layered one on top of the other; and all three were adhered, within the scene, just at their centers, in order to give their wings lift and studded with black pearls to complete the look.

Thanks so much for visiting!  Have a terrific Tuesday, Poppystamps friends!

  6. WoW! Amazing card! I thought it was a watercolour painting at first, my jaw dropped when I saw the distress inks and water. The black pearls for the butterfly, an excellent embellishment, I will use that idea! Thank you for the amazing creative inspiration today. I needed it!
