Challenge Reminder: Things With Wings – A Butterfly Birthday!
by Rachel Duong

Hi crafty friends! It’s Rachel here with a Poppystamps happy birthday butterfly card and a reminder to play along with our monthly challenge. July’s theme is Things With Wings! I used the Poppystamps Nordic Whisper Butterfly and Nordic Cheery Butterflies cut out in beautiful shades of purple and blue. I used mirrored, glitter and pearlized paper–I can’t say enough about the pairing of the specialty papers and butterfly dies, so majestic!

To create this card I cut out many wings in blues and purples with all the textures. tip–keep in mind when cutting out dies with glitter paper, the details often get lost, the mirrored metallic papers keep all the detail. It might be a trade off but specialty papers absolutely bring the butterflies to life!

As I glued the butterflies together I made sure no two butterflies were the same. Next I diecut the antennae in glossy black cardstock and glued them on each butterfly according to size. The glossy black paper always reminds me of patent leather!

I arranged the butterflies on a gorgeous lavender cardfront. This took a bit of time as I wanted to balance the colors just right, especially when light illuminates the mirrored paper wings.

Then I die cut the Poppystamps Happy Birthday Tender Script sentiment in a rich purple glitter paper and placed it in the center.

Lastly I adorned the card with diamond crystal Fairy Jewels surrounding the sentiment!

This Poppystamps butterfly card is just waiting to be replicated in another color palette! I hope you get a chance to flutter in and check out the Poppystamps butterflies.
