Festive Birdhouse Christmas Card By Jyoti Adhikari
Bring a cozy touch of winter to your holiday crafting with this elegant birdhouse Christmas card! Soft icy blues, snow-covered greenery, rich red berries, and a charming little bird come together to create a peaceful winter scene that’s full of dimension and festive warmth. I love combining die cuts with patterned papers, and this design lets each element shine while keeping the overall look clean and balanced. I opted for a 5 inches by 7 inches card this time for a change.
Create a Cozy Winter Background
To begin, I covered the card front with a soft blue cardstock and used a Snowflake rub on that immediately sets the winter mood. I also inked the borders with Tumbled Glass Distressed Oxide ink to create a vignette and draw the eye to the center. Along the bottom, I added a strip of dark patterned paper with gold stars from Yuletide Cheer 6×6 pattern paper pack, creating a beautiful contrast that grounds the design and adds a touch of holiday elegance.

The cool blue tones paired with the warm gold accents create a color palette that feels both classic and modern.
Build the Birdhouse Focal Point
The birdhouse is the centerpiece of the card and was created using the Nordic Birdhouse die cut from Woodgrain Cardstock in off white and pale blue cardstock. For the inside of the window I used black to represent the dimension. This birdhouse has a beautiful design cutouts which adds extra interest.

The little winter bird perched on the lower branch adds a wonderful sense of life and movement. This bird die is the Nordic Valley Bird. Soft blue with red accent details on the bird coordinate perfectly with the background while its warm neutral body helps tie all of the colors together.
I attached the birdhouse and the bird next to it with foam adhesive to give it gentle dimension and make it the focal point of the design.
Layer the Winter Greenery
One of my favorite parts of this card is the abundance of layered greenery. I tucked snow-covered evergreen branches both above and below the birdhouse to frame the focal point beautifully. Bright red berries bring pops of color throughout the arrangement, while the festive red bow and gold bells create the perfect finishing touch above the birdhouse.

Finish with Wintery Details
To complete the design, I added a simple black and gold “Merry Christmas” sentiment near the bottom of the birdhouse. The clean sentiment doesn’t compete with the focal point and balances the composition nicely.
The combination of layered die cuts, embossed texture, patterned papers, and dimensional embellishments creates a card that feels rich and detailed while still maintaining a clean and elegant layout.

Thank you so much for stopping by today! I hope this cozy winter birdhouse inspires you to mix patterned papers with layered die cuts to create your own festive holiday cards. Whether you recreate this design or make it your own with different colors and embellishments, layered winter scenes are always a beautiful way to celebrate the season.
Happy crafting! ❤️
Hugs,
Jyoti
