Thankful for Autumn
by Susanbcards

My favorite holiday is Thanksgiving, I love sending cards to my friends and relatives letting them know how thankful I am for them.

Autumn cards are perfect for stretching your supplies. You can take the flowers from Spring, the pumpkins from Halloween and the Winter birds, change the colors and you have a perfect Autumn card.

I wanted to use a wreath on my card, so I created one. I used the Scallop Pinpoint Rings Die (approx 3″ diameter) as my base. I completely covered it with stems, so any circle frame will do but a bit of it shows so I cut it from green cardstock.

I used the leafy stems from The Lovely Floral Bundle dieset, the stems have a bit of curve to them so they are easy to form into a wreath. I used a few different shades of green, I have so many scraps!

The flowers are from the same dieset, I cut them from dark red which looks nice with the green. I added a bit of kraft cardstock as a nod to the changing seasons. The pumpkins are from the Pumpkin Patch dieset, I used the smallest ones, they fit nicely on the wreath.

I diecut the Nordic Valley Bird from white cardstock and inked each layer with Distress Oxides. He matches the wreath perfectly.

Rather than just placing the wreath on the card, I decided to put it on a gold and cream colored tag. The Scalloped Framer Tags (I used the largest one, 2.6″x5″) cut both the scalloped and straight edged tags. They look great layered but can also be used separately. I cut the Warm Wishes Fluffy Script sentiment from the same gold cardstock as the tag.

I spattered gold paint on the dark green card, let it dry then attached the tag to the card. I added a twine bow to the tag, then popped the wreath up with foam dots.

Thank you for visiting the blog today! I hope I inspired you to use your stash by changing up the color palette!
