PSC#123 ABC – Anything but a card – It’s Snowing! A Winter Tag
by Rachel Duong

Hi crafty friends! It’s Rachel here to share my project and remind you about the Poppystamps Challenge this month – Anything But A Card!  Create a tag, ornament, or anything but a card! Use just one Poppystamps stamp or die on your project. You have until 12 am US EST on December 29 to link up your design.

I created a large tag with Poppystamps Nordic gnomes and elves in a joy-filled snow scene. Do you see one of the elves has tossed his hat in the air?! I imagine my tag on a large gift from a group of friends.  There is tons of room on the back for signatures and messages.

To create this tag, I used a large piece of heavyweight pale blue cardstock. I diecut the Poppystamps Nordic gnomes and elves out of watercolor paper.  (The dies are listed below). I painted the pieces with distress ink in varying intensities. I glued the pieces together.

Next I adhered the “Nordic Treeline” in the middle of the tag. I layered a few pieces of white cardstock for the snowy ground. Then I splattered the tag with watered-down white acrylic paint. I covered part of the faces to keep them visible.

I stamped the sentiment from the “Holiday Banners” stamp set in red ink. I cut it out with the Poppystamps “Word Balloons” die set. I also chose a preprinted thick, gold foiled Merry Christmas circle sentiment. I arranged the images and then glued the pieces down allowing them to go off the edge. I love the way it looks adding extra character, making the scene come alive.

I also overlapped the gnomes for depth and dimension.

I trimmed the top corners, punched a hole in the center, affixed a protector and threaded burlap twine through the hole.

Lastly, I painted light gray shadows under their feet for the finishing touch!2

I hope you love this tag as much as I do! Please play along in the December challenge.  I can’t wait to see your creation!

Happy Holidays!2
