A Red, White, and Blue Birthday
by Jennifer Harte

Hello Friends! I have two cards to share—perfect for anyone who has a July birthday, and especially meaningful this year as we celebrate America’s 250th anniversary!

Since I love the new Nordic Petalglow Flower die from the Nordic Daydream release, I decided to make it the star of both cards. I find that it’s such a beautiful bloom and so easy to assemble.

For my first card, I ink blended a piece of 4 1/4” x 5 1/2” cardstock with red and blue Distress Oxide inks and then added texture with the Diamond Oval Pinpoint Background die. I die cut the Nordic Petalglow Flower from red and white glitter cardstock and blue foil cardstock, mixing and matching the pieces to create a variety of red, white, and blue blooms. I finished the card by using the new Happy Birthday Tender Script sentiment.

For my second card, I changed things up with a slimline design to space the blooms out a bit more. I ink blended red and blue Distress Oxide inks on a piece of the white woodgrain paper, then lightly spattered water to add some interest.

This time, I used plain red, white and blue cardstock for the flowers, keeping things less glitzy. I did add some sparkle with glitter and foil cardstock for the sentiment.

Since the Happy Birthday Tender Script sentiment was designed to be used together, I made a small modification to create “Happy, Happy Birthday.” I die cut “happy” twice, trimmed the tail from one “p,” and attached it to the other—blending the pieces for a seamless look.

I hope you enjoyed my patriotic birthday cards. Thanks so much for stopping by, and don’t forget to share some handmade happiness of your own!
