Thank You
by Lisa Elton

This pretty Nordic Flourish Background will always be a favorite of mine. I love the interest it adds to a card, whether you use it as the focal point with minimal additions, or in the background as I’ve done today.

Our new Fringed Heart Frame was my next layer. I cut this one from a lovely champagne glitter paper. The bonus is that you get the interior heart to use on another card!

I created a sweet bluebird to perch on the heart. This is the Nordic Nestled Bird, also from the latest release. I opted not to give her the little sweater included in the die set. Didn’t want her to get overheated in the warmer temps! She’s popped up with foam tape.

Next, I’ve added Nordic Petalglow Flowers to the mix. They’re layered together with colored cardstocks. The leaves were Copic colored to match the feathers and wing on the bird.

The final layers are the thank you sentiment and a few rhinestones. My reason for the rhinestones is a simple rule I like to follow in my card making. It’s basically this… rhythm or flow. A rule I taught my floral design students. You need a recurrence of color. The color of the heart needed to be added again somewhere in the design. Adding the little champagne rhinestones brought that color forward and added to the flow. The same holds true for the sentiment color. For instance, a black sentiment wouldn’t have made sense here. It wouldn’t have blended with the rest of the card. Your eyes would have stopped there instead of flowing over the design. I hope sharing this simple rule of mine helps in your next creation!

Thank you so much for stopping by today. Take a few minutes to check out whats new in the shop!

Totally delightful card, Lisa–beautiful and cheery! The bird is so sweet and I love the look of the flowers! I agree with your tips and especially that the sentiment needed to not be black.
