A Penguin Party Filled with Glitz and Glitter
by Jennifer Harte

Hello Friends! I’m so excited to share two sparkly birthday cards featuring products from the Penguin Party release. I had so much fun designing the first card that I just had to make a second!

For my backgrounds, I chose paper from the Birthday Fun 6×6 paper pad. Since I planned to die cut most everything in shades of purple, I selected patterns that would allow the penguins and festive accents to really shine.

On the aqua background card, I die cut a panel using the largest Scalloped Pinpoint Frame. I layered it over coordinating cardstock on my card base (cut to 5 1/2” x 4 1/4”), then added a purple glitter die-cut frame for extra sparkle and dimension.

For the penguins, I used Glossy Black and white cardstock to die cut the Fancy Party and Birthday penguins. Then came the really fun part! I die cut a variety of Frilly Gifts, Festive Balloons, and Layer Cakes from papers in the Stormy Blue, Glitzy Glitter and Rainbow Reflections pads. When I saw how many festive pieces I had, I definitely knew a second card was in my future! For extra shimmer, I even added gold glitter glue to the candle flames.

My original idea was to frame the penguin with a border of party elements. For this card, I used the Fancy Party Penguin wearing the party hat from the Jubilee Penguin. He definitely needed some sunglasses with all the glitter! I stamped a birthday sentiment from the Balloon Celebrations set on a scrap of patterned paper. To help it stand out, I tucked some gold thread from my stash behind it before adhering it to the card.

For my second card, I opted for a more playful, scattered arrangement of the party elements. I used the Fancy Gift die as my focal point, with the Birthday Penguin popping out of the gift box! The sentiment is from the Memory Box Open Studio Greeting Tab set. I had a few leftover die cuts, so decorated the inside of my cards. It’s always a lovely finishing touch. If you look closely, you’ll spot a few hearts scattered around both cards.

I hope I have inspired you to to check out the Poppystamps Penguin Party release. It’s such a fun collection of dies and don’t forget to share some handmade happiness of your own!
