A Spring Nordic Pretty Petal Flower
by Jennifer Harte

Hello Friends! We’ve had a long winter here in Michigan, so like many others I’m ready for sunny days and pretty spring colors. Today, I’m sharing two cards featuring the Nordic Pretty Petal Flower.

I absolutely love the Nordic Pretty Petal Flower and have featured it on other cards, so here’s the Spring edition! The dies include six petals and a solid backing piece to make arranging the flower petals easy. There are also several options for the center. Since I wanted more dimension, I die cut the backer piece and the petals in two colors. After assembling the pieces, I had two flowers, which I layered together to create one full, fluffy flower for the card.

I die cut four Nordic Sweeping Branches in Leaf Sprout cardstock to match my card base and arranged them in a whimsical swirl around the flower. I chose not to add a sentiment at the present time—I’ll add it later or just use one inside.

After completing this card, I thought it may be fun to cut the petals using patterned paper and glue them onto the solid cardstock backer. The floral paper is from the beautiful Memory Box Brilliant Fuchsia paper pad which I also used as the background for my card.

To highlight the Nordic Pretty Petal Flower on my second card, I placed an embossing pad over the Penelope Pinpoint Frame and ran it through my die-cutting machine. Instead of cutting the paper, it created a gorgeous impression—similar to the look of an embossing folder. I love the added texture.

Next, I used the second largest Scalloped Pinpoint Frame to cut a smaller piece and layered it over the floral paper. This time, I did add a sentiment—Hello Spring! I also slightly curled up the petals (just with my fingers) to add even more dimension.

I hope you enjoyed my cards and are looking forward to Spring as much as I am. Don’t forget to look for the tiny hearts I added on both cards—I’ll give you a hint because they do blend in this time—look closely at the flower centers.

Thanks so much for visiting, and don’t forget to share some handmade happiness of your own!
