Winter Wonderland Hugs
by Sphoorti

Hello, Poppy Peeps! It’s Sphoorti here again, bringing you a wintery, hug-filled creation! This card is all about dimension, texture, and a fun interactive element—perfect for sending cozy winter vibes. Before we start, special shoutout to Melissa Bee (@melissagoestocraftland) who was kind enough to take all these pictures because I forgot to take them before I sent the card to her. She staged and even edited the pictures for me! Thank you, Melissa!

A Magical See-Through Flap

This isn’t just any card—it has a clear acetate flap that opens up to reveal the inside! I love the look of delicate, floating snowflakes, so I added snowflakes from the RUB105 Snowflake Rub On set to the acetate panel, creating a dreamy winter wonderland effect. The clear panel gives the card a light and airy feel while adding an interactive surprise.

A Whimsical Forest Scene – Double the Layers!

The magic of this card comes from the two layers of trees—some are on top of the acetate flap, while others are on the card panel inside. This gives a stunning multi-dimensional effect, as if you’re peering through a snowy woodland scene. I used the 2627 Nordic Treeline craft die to cut the trees from Neenah Solar White 110 lb cardstock and colored them using a variety of Distress Inks to achieve rich, blended greens. Some trees have intricate embossed details, while others have subtle ink blending and a hint of shimmer—because winter magic deserves a little sparkle!

A Warm & Woodsy Sentiment

To ground the cool tones of the winter scene, I used the 2577 Whittle Field and Trees craft die to create a rich, embossed woodgrain panel, also cut from Neenah Solar White 110 lb cardstock and ink-blended with Distress Inks for warm, earthy tones. The deep brown hues and swirling wood texture add a cozy, rustic touch—like a warm cabin in the snow. The “Hugs” sentiment, die cut from the 2600 Hugs Moonlight Script craft die, using Glitter Cardstock, making it pop beautifully against the background.

The Finishing Touches

To complete the look, I tied some gold thread along the top for an extra elegant detail. And of course, a few tiny snowflakes and golden gems add just the right amount of winter sparkle.

Would you try a see-through interactive card like this? I’d love to hear your thoughts! Until next time, sending warm winter hugs your way! ❄️💙
