Challenge Reminder – Critters
by Rachel Duong

Hi there! It’s Rachel here with a giraffe birthday card to remind you about the Poppystamps Challenge! The theme for March is “Cute Critters”. Please play along and you will have a chance to win either a blog badge or a monthly prize. Here are the rules – create a card or another project with the cute critter theme, use at least one Poppystamps image or die and link it up on the Poppystamps site. Link a minimum of 3 entries to each challenge.

To create this card I used the Poppystamps “Whittle Racing Giraffe Kit”. I die cut the clouds, tree and giraffes from 8.5 x 11″ cardstock available on the site to purchase. The cardstock is the perfect weight and the colors are beautiful for cardmaking. I watercolored each piece and created shadows to ground the images. The giraffes spots have impressions indicating where their spots are located. I used rusty brown for the spots and then a darker brown center for depth.

I made light dots around the tree edges and the tree base is actually a lime green. Notice I left the top part of the limbs green.
Arranging the pieces, I knew I wanted the tallest giraffe to have his head above the clouds! How fun is that?! I added blue on the clouds for color and so they didn’t get lost on the white cardfront. Then I embellished the tree with diamond Fairy Jewels and gave one giraffe an organza green bow .
I roughed the edges and adhered it to a kraft card base. I love it!

A happy card for all ages, a baby birthday card, a card from all of us, a card for giraffe lovers. Oh, so cute and happy. Have a fantastic time creating your challenge “cute critter card!” And don’t forget to link it up to March’s monthly challenge!
Until next time, I hope I have inspired you, see you very soon!
