Merry and Bright!
by Rachel Duong

Hi friends! It’s Rachel here with an elegant holiday card. I used the Poppystamps “Nordic Regal Deer”. Glitter and jewels adorn this monochromatic scene.

To create this card, I die cut the reindeer and top layer of their sweater in kraft cardstock. I blended distress ink in walnut stain and tea dye at the top part of the deer and tapered it down towards the legs. Next I die cut the outline, antlers amd sweater from the Memory Box Delicate Pastel Glitter Pad. I love the contrast! I glued the pieces together.

These are the supplies I used.  So many choices of sentiments and beautiful jewels.

For the background, I used a heavy white cardstock. I placed a circle in the upper half of the panel to mask the moon. Distress inks in browns, red, orange, and blue are blended over the rest of the area. I misted the cardfront and let the color bleed into the center. Amazing effect! I framed the watercolor background onto a blush border with roughed up edges before gluing to a kraft base. The reindeer are angled below the moon. An Open Studio gold foiled greeting is off-center, overlapping the moon. Finally, Open Studio Fairy Jewels add dramatic flair.

Pictured is the card before I added jewels. This gives it a more clean look. The jewels give the deer a playful feel. Which do you prefer?

Thank you for stopping by. The Poppystamps “Nordic Regal Deer” die is beautiful. So many Poppystamps dies coordinate with these deer. I love them!  That’s it for now, have a jubilant day!
