Skiing By to Say Hello

Hello, crafty friends! Jyoti here today with a cheerful card featuring the adorable Ski Penguin craft die from the latest Poppystamps new release. This playful little penguin is full of personality and can easily be used for winter cards, birthdays, encouragement cards, or simply to send a happy hello.

Creating the Ski Penguin

I began by die-cutting the penguin and all its accessories from different colors of cardstock. I kept the penguin classic in black and white, then added bright orange feet, silver skis, and a cozy hat with a fun red patterned top. Piecing together all the tiny details really brings this sweet character to life.

Layering the Patterned Background

For the background, I layered a green gingham oval over a softly colored scalloped oval. The mix of patterns adds interest while still allowing the penguin to remain the star of the card. I also added coordinating patterned-paper strips along the left side, cutting the ends into banners for a playful layered look.

Adding the Sentiment and Finishing Touches

After attaching the skiing penguin to the center of the oval, I stamped the “Hello, You Are the Best!” sentiment near the bottom. A few coral enamel dots scattered around the design provide the perfect finishing touch and help carry the warm accent color throughout the card.

A Penguin for Every Occasion

I love how this card feels wintry and playful without being limited to the holidays. The new Ski Penguin is such a delightful die, and I can already imagine using it for many more fun projects.
