2-For-1 Nordic Motif Cards
by Allison Frazier

Hello, Poppystamps friends! I am excited to be back on the blog today sharing these two cards that I made out of one background. I created the background using the Nordic Motif Stencil and shimmer powders. I then pulled some new goodies to pair with the background.
To create my background, I took the Nordic Motif Stencil and pounced VersaMark ink through the openings onto watercolor paper. Once I felt confident that I had gotten good coverage with the ink, I sprinkled white embossing powder over the entire panel and heat embossed it. I then took several colors of shimmer powders from Lindy’s Gang, sprinkled them onto the panel, and then spritzed it with water. I went through several stages with this panel, adding a few colors at first, and then adding more to get my desired result. I love how it turned out! I used the following colors of powders: Sassy Sapphire, Drop Dead Gorgeous Green, Hi Maintenance Magenta, Lizzy’s Cuppa Tea Teal, and Butter the Toast Blue. I let my panel completely dry, and although not everyone does this, I like to spray my shimmer powder backgrounds with a sealer.

To divide my panel into two, I trimmed it at a diagonal, using the centers of the “flowers” as a guide. I then glued these two panels onto white A2 card bases, one at the top and the other at the bottom. To add some detail to the cards, I added some velvet ribbon along the diagonal line. I used double sided tape to adhere the ribbon. For my first card, I used the beautiful Happy Holidays Moonlight Script die as the focal point. I cut the words out of purple glitter card stock. This purple comes from an older Memory Box pad called “Frosted Glitter.” I cut the shadow layer out of white card stock and then popped the sentiment up on foam tape to make it stand out from the white background. I finished this card with some beautiful gems from the Winter Fantasy Fairy Gemstones pack. It’s hard to tell from the pictures, but these larger gems have a purple and teal tint to them.

For my second card, I chose the adorable Nordic Winter Rabbit as my focal point. I cut the main body out of white card stock, and then I cut the sweater and hat from three different colors. I used the purple color to inlay the little dots that get cut out of the small detail pieces on the sweater and hat. For the tail on the rabbit, I used some white glitter foam from my stash. This rabbit is so precious! The sentiment comes from a Birch Press stamp set called “Glad Tidings,” and I stamped it with black pigment ink. I popped the rabbit up on foam tape, again to help it stand out against the white background. To finish this card, I used the same gemstones as I did on the first card.

I love how these cards turned out, and I hope they bring a smile to your face. Thanks for joining us today.
