Majestic Maple
by Sue McRae

Hi everyone, Sue here with a card featuring all things leafy.

For the background, I temporarily adhered the Memory Box Postage Set Stencil over white card stock and inked up the rectangle/square shapes with Tumbled Glass Distress Ink. This gives a nice window pane look to the card.

I then laid the Memory Box Falling Maple Stencil over the inked sections and applied Cosmic Shimmer Flake & Glitter Glue with a sponge to the leaves. This glue dries tacky which allows you to add gilding flakes/gold leafing on top. I used a multi-coloured mix of flakes with coppers, golds and greens.

The Majestic Maple was cut from water colour paper and painted with bold water colour paint. I die cut two additional leaves, one from red vellum and one from orange vellum and placed those behind the painted leaf and tied a gold bow around the stems.

I had trouble deciding on a colour for the sentiment. It seemed like nothing popped enough off the gilded section so I opted for black and decided to tie that in by adding the background panel onto a black card base.

Lots of fun techniques on this card. I hope it inspires you to try some of them.

In case you missed it, we had a blog hop yesterday featuring Birch Press Design and Poppystamps. There's a wonderful prize and some great shopping discounts. Stop by here for all the details.

Thanks so much for visiting today!
