Fluttering Butterflies for a Thank You Card
by Carol McFarland

Hello! Carol here today with my first card as a Design Team Member at Poppystamps! I chose this beautiful Adriana Pop Up Easel die set for my card with its intricate details and interactive style. It is May and the colors I chose are soft and pretty like spring florals that are peeking out for the first time. This is a picture of the card with the easel feature closed. The white piece layers so easily on top of the orange card base. I used dots of liquid adhesive to attach it to the pink mat on the card front. This was the first step of making this card.

Look at all of the detail in the white die cut! The first time I saw this die I was taken by all of the shapes of the leaves. There are several types and sizes of them and they look so dainty and sweet, don’t they? I also love the edges of the easel that mimic the shapes of the leaves. I am a big fan of shaped cards and this one is so unique!

I wanted to continue with the same colors of my pink, white and soft orange card base, so I brought out my Nordic Cheery Butterflies dies to add the feeling of movement. It’s easy to assemble the pieces of each butterfly, again using liquid adhesive. They are not only layered, but they have such pretty details in them, just like the real ones you see in the garden. As you can see, I made the body of the butterflies a soft aqua color. I love aqua with pink and orange. I added them to the card with foam adhesive to add depth.

Here is a side view of the easel design standing upright. The Thank You Tender Script die that I used makes a great “doorstop” as I call it, for the easel to stand on a desk or mantel. This is a two piece die that layers so easily, one on top of the other with your favorite adhesive. The front of the card rests against the layered thank you die that is popped up on foam adhesive.
I used the Say it Big Stamp and Die set along with a clear ink pad and silver embossing powder to heat emboss my main sentiment on the card front. I wanted a soft look for the big sentiment so it wouldn’t take away from the pretty leaves and butterflies.
This thank you card is really simple to make. I enjoyed each step using these products and I think this eye-catching easel die can lend itself to all sorts of occasions like weddings, birthdays and other life events. Using different colors on several cards could create a seasonal set of cards to gift to a friend!
Have a beautifiul day!
