Challenge Reminder: Mixed Media
by Jennifer Harte

Hello Friends! This is a friendly reminder for you to join the Poppystamps monthly challenge. The theme for April is “Mixed Media.” This is a fun opportunity to experiment with different products and techniques. I hope you’ll have some fun and join the challenge.

For my background, I added shades of purple acrylic paints on my Gelli Plate and made several prints. I even pressed in some netting to create extra texture. Once everything dried, I spattered my print with Distress Spritz. I wanted a larger droplets, so watered it down slightly before spattering with a paint brush.

I cut the finished print using the largest Scalloped Pinpoint Frame die. I also cut another frame using gold cardstock from my stash to create a gold border. I ended up using the scalloped border with my gel print inside my card. You’ll see that photo later.

Next, I die cut the Poppystamps Nordic Belle Butterfly three times. I used my gel print, purple Glitzy Glitter paper from Memory Box (GP1007) and some gold foil cardstock. I tried different combinations, but ended up liking a mixture of the three papers. I think the butterfly really pops with the different layers.

I also used nested circle dies from my stash to cut a circle using a page from an old butterfly guidebook and cut a slightly larger circle for the border. I adhered the layers with foam tape to add dimension.

To complete the card, I added purple ribbon from my stash. I also created a purple glitter butterfly with some of the leftover pieces and used it inside my card. My friends often mention they love how I embellish the inside of my cards and even the envelopes. I’ve always thought the extra details add a special, personal touch.
