Time to Party
by Jennifer Harte

Hello Friends! I’m excited to share a colorful and sparkly birthday card featuring new items from the Penguin Party release. This card was so much fun to put together and I hope you enjoy it as much as I do. With lots of cake and presents, what more could you ask for?

I wanted a subtle background, but also some shimmer, so I started by ink blending pastel Distress Oxide inks. Next, I added sparkle paste over the Poppystamps Criss Cross Heart stencil. Once it dried, I die cut the paper with the largest Scalloped Pinpoint Frame die to create a festive background.

For the penguins, I used Glossy Black and white cardstock to die cut the Birthday and Jubilee penguins.

The Frilly Gifts and party hats were cut from patterned paper in the Poppystamps Birthday Fun Paper 6×6 pad, with gold foil from my stash for the bows and tops of the hats. The patterned paper is double-sided, so I mixed and matched both sides for the gifts. I popped up the penguins with foam, so I could tuck the presents and cakes underneath them.

The new Layer Cake dies are easy and fun to assemble. I used a variety of glitter paper from my stash and decided to make cakes with different “flavored” layers. I found it easiest to keep the layers together by adding a bit of tape to the back.

For the candles, I added some gold glitter glue to the flames for extra sparkle. My sentiment is from Open Studio Greeting Tabs from Memory Box. I used the “leftovers” from the Layer Cakes to decorate the inside of my card.

I hope you are inspired to check out the new Poppystamps Penguin Party release. It’s such a fun collection of dies and don’t forget to share some handmade happiness of your own!
