Merry Christmas Cardinal | by Michelle Woerner
Hi crafty friends! It’s Michelle Woerner here to share a simple and easy to mail Christmas card focusing on die sets from the new Nordic Winter Magic release.

To start my card, I die cut a white frame using the largest die in the Scalloped Pinpoint Frames die set. I lightly tacked it down to the card base, so I could arrange the sprigs around, under and over the frame. Using the Nordic Holly Sprig die set, I die cut 3 sprigs from white cardstock and inked them with 3 shades of Distress Oxide ink. I chose not to use the 3 Nordic leaf patterns, but rather kept them as a simple sprig with small pierced dots down the center. I arranged 3 sprigs, and tucked 2 of the stems under the frame and the 3rd sprig stem is tucked under a leaf. Once they were glued down, I added liquid glue to the corner of scrap paper, slipped it under the thin frame and glued it down.

Using the Nordic Resting Cardinal die set, I die cut the cardinal, wings and tail from 3 shades of red, and the head pieces from black and yellow cardstock. To give the cardinal a more brown tone for the eye, I used a copic marker over the yellow. I just love how regal this beautiful cardinal bird is!

Using the Merry Christmas Cheerful Script set and I die cut the sentiment 2 times from black cardstock and adhered the pieces together. To keep the scale smaller and cleaner, I did not use the shadow die for the sentiment. Lastly, using the berries die from the Nordic Holly Sprig die set I die cut red berries from glitter cardstock. I love how glitter cardstock adds sparkle to the card without the bulk of gems. This card is very flat and mailing this will not require extra postage which is a good thing for holiday cards!
Thank you for stopping by and be sure to stop by and check out the Nordic Winter Magic release!
