A Purple and Yellow Garden of Nordic Blooms
by Jennifer Harte

Hello Friends! As the gardening season is winding down in Michigan I was inspired to design a card with the beautiful and fun Nordic Blooms die set.
I began by ink blending a background with purple and yellow Distress Oxide inks. I chose mixed media paper so I could spatter it with water to blend the inks without damaging the paper. If you have watercolor paper on hand, that works too.
Next came the fun part, die cutting a bunch of the Nordic Blooms! I love that there’s no right or wrong way to assemble these beautiful flowers, so just have fun mixing and matching the pieces. When I was happy with everything, I ink blended each piece using the same inks as I did for the background. Since I didn’t spatter them with water, the colors pop out against the background.
For the sentiment, I used the Sentimental Banners stamp and die set and I stamped directly on a leftover scrap from my background—a great way to tie everything together. I heat embossed it with clear embossing powder to give it some shine. I’m sure you’ll spot the little heart I added because it’s larger than the ones I’ve used on recent cards.
I always like to add something extra inside my cards to surprise the recipient. This time, I used some leftover Nordic Blooms. I love the purple and yellow color combination and will definitely use it again!
I hope my card inspires you to check out the beautiful Nordic Blooms die set other items in the Nordic Forest release. Don’t forget to share some handmade happiness of your own!
