Rainbow Hearts
by Sue McRae

Hello everyone! Sue here with a cheery rainbow card using one of the Valentine’s Day dies from the new release.

Not all heart cards have to be for Valentine’s Day, try thinking outside the box in using them in your every day crafting.

I’m sure most of you have lots of scrap card stock lying around, I know I do. So today I’m using up the scraps to make my own rainbow background.

Pick whatever colours make you happy for creating your background. I went with a rainbow but you could use different shades of one colour. I cut strips 0.25″ and 0.5″ wide because I wasn’t sure what I was going to do at first. I arranged the colours horizontally and then decided I liked them on a diagonal better and I put a couple of wider strips with the narrow ones just to mix it up. I added my strips to a piece of white card stock that I covered with double sided adhesive. Once I filled my panel with all the strips I trimmed off all the ends.

I die cut the Samba Heart Border from white card stock and adhered it the panel. I used the same colours from my background to die cut the hearts. I cut small squares from the coloured card stock and taped them to the back of the border die so I could cut several hearts in different colours at the same time. It only took 3 passes to die cut all the hearts I needed.

I added the hearts with foam tape for dimension and white heat embossed the sentiment from the Art Deco You Are Wonderful stamp set.

To finish off I added a thin strip of black card stock to the heart panel and some iridescent bubbles.

I hope you give this idea a try. It’s an easy way to add some fun colour to a card. I have enough strips leftover to make another panel for a future project. Bonus!

Thanks for visiting with me today!
