Happiest Birthday!
By Pam Simpson

Hello everyone, sharing a technique I love to do with my embossing folders.. Inking them up! gives you a lovely two colour effect .. I have used this stunning “Open Studio” 3D Embossing Folder “Heart Bouquet” from Memory Box.

You will need..Embossing Folder/Brayer/ and ink..I like to use Encore ink, it is nice a sticky..brilliance ink is another good one for this technique .

Load the brayer with ink, I spread this ink onto a surface, gives a good even coverage on the brayer, next lightly brayer the folder with ink..Raised pattern side.

Place your card to be embossed/inked into the folder as shown..Run through your die cutting machine..Tip! these folders are very thick..DONT force through your machine as normal embossing folders. I find one clear plate is plenty!..normally you use 2..to sandwich the embossing Folder.. Test your machine..to see what you`ll need for embossing.

This is the pretty card, I have embossed  through my machine.

I inked a frame to match the colour..Poppystamps Pointed rectangles.

Addthe frame, using 3d foam tape.

Trim embossed card to fit the frame.

Ink around card piece, adhere embossed card to this, I added a small cream bow for decoration.

Decorate with Poppystamps ” butterflies” from Beautiful butterflies sidekick frame die set. I cut in two colours /black and cream card, these I layered up. finished with tiny black pearls. stamped “Happiest Birthday” poppystamps Butterfly Wings ..stamp set.

Hope you`ll have a go at this inking embossing technique, using a embossing folder..

Thank you for stopping by Pam x

  2. What a great idea to use the brayer. I have tried to just use an ink pad, and it hasn’t worked out well. So I have stopped trying. THANK YOU for your tip!! I just love this look.
