Autumn Glow
by Jennifer Harte

Hello Friends! Even though Autumn has arrived in Michigan, I’m still seeing a few butterflies passing through during their migration South. This made me think of the beautiful Nordic Bell Butterfly.

I began by lightly blending Distress Oxide inks over the Poppystamps Woodgrain white paper to create a glowing, textured background. Since the leaves are almost at peak here in Michigan, I die cut and colored four Nordic Sweeping Branches in rich Autumn colors.

Now for the butterflies! The Nordic Bell Butterfly die set creates one layered butterfly. I used silver and gold foil cardstock from my stash for a metallic shimmer. As I was assembling the butterfly, I realized I could also make a small butterfly if I just used the small die cuts. A perfect little two-fer—don’t you just love stretching your supplies? Since the smaller wings and body are a separate die you don’t end up with extra pieces. I think these mini butterflies are just as beautiful as the large one.

I chose not to add a sentiment to my card for now. I can personalize it later, after I decide who I’m going to mail it to. There’s also a tiny hidden heart—do you see it?

I love the Autumn glow of the background along with the shimmering butterflies. I hope my card inspires you to check out these and other products at the  Poppystamps store. Don’t forget to share some handmade happiness of your own.
