Hi there Poppy fans! The Blog Blitz continues with Christmas/Holiday dies. I’d like to present Mistletoe Side Strips and Stencil.

Noel says it all on the front of a card, doesn’t it? And the drama of shimmer black Cardstock and metallic watercolors dress up a card front fit for the holidays! The beauty of Poppy’s Side strip die lets you put the mistletoe anywhere your creative juices take you.

Some time back I purchased a set of Metallic watercolors by Prima. They’re a mixture of color and mica and shine when added to any color cardstock.

Mine is black. You can see how vibrant the leaves get when color is applied. And this die imprints the leaves’ veins when cut. 

I added spots of the blue to my leaves, and when dry, the veins of the embossed leaves pop! My sentiment, Festive Noel die was cut from shimmer cardstock too. First, in  black, and watercolored with copper metallic. Then cut with yellow/gold, and finally in red shimmer. This photo show how I added double sided tape to the back of my diecut before inserting the letters and berries.

Here’s a closeup of the die cuts painted, and Nuvo Crystal Drops added. The background insert is loosely watercolored with gold and lavender metallic paint, and I did pop up both sides of the black cardstock with foam.

I masked my letters before splattering white metallic paint. The whole card really shimmers irl!

  2. Beautiful card! I love the metallic watercolors you used on the black card stock. I bet this card is even more stunning in person. These side strips and stencil sets are great. I especially like that this one doesn’t scream mistletoe so could be used year round. Thanks for sharing!

  13. Awwww…. I’m speechless!! How amazing!! I just adore this Mistletoe Strip die and stencil, and the fabulous colours you choose!! That touch of blue looks really awesome! The veins of the leaves pop very well, too! And all your design is just FABULOUS!! I have to buy some metallic watercolours, you inspired me so much with this card!! The inlay on the Noel word and leaves looks so beautiful too!! Amazing card!!!
