Spring Celebration
by Michele K. Henderson

Hello Everyone!

I love to mark the official start of spring as opening day of baseball season! March madness and brackets slip away and green grass and sunshine emerge! I decided to mark the start of the new season by making this fun card for my hubbie, who loves the Houston Astros!

To create the fun star background, I used the All Star Collage that I cut out of a light gray stitched card panel, adhered to a white card base. It really works well on panels of any shape–rectangle, square, etc, and you can use overlay or paper piecing techniques. Once I had the grey panel in place, I cut the All Star Collage again in orange and added the little orange stars like puzzle pieces with a tiny drop of glue.

I then cut three stars from the Scribble Trio set, and two Fancy Celebrate in blue and white.  Lucky for me, the logo of the Houston Astros is a big orange star, so I made this card in Astros colors. The light gray is a great neutral color, but hubbie’s favorite Astros t-shirt is gray with blue sleeves and the orange star, so my color combination and that Scribble Trio star work perfectly together. But this sporty design would work great with just about any sports team, like Mariners blues and silver, or Cubs red, white, and blue! It would also make a great birthday card idea for your little All-Stars too!

Thanks so much for joining us today!
