Black and White Serene Forest
by JJ Bolton

Hi everyone!  I'm so happy to be stopping in today with a clean and simple holiday card.  I do love bright and shiny Christmas cards, but sometimes you just want to go peaceful and quiet.   So this time I created a quiet, snowy scene using just two colors and three dies.

The first step was to partially die cut my deer.  I used one of the stitched landscape dies to create the hill that the deer is standing on.  Those dies are so versatile because the open edges of the die allow you to create totally custom cut lines.  Plus, you can use the stitched side OR the non-stitched side for 2 different looks.  I used a similar technique to cut the background trees in 2 different configurations.

I resisted the urge to add any color, but I did splatter some white paint on the black background for snow.  Then all I had to do was stack the layers!

I hope I can be just like that deer in the card and peacefully enjoy the beauty of the season!  Thanks for stopping by!

  1. Morning JJ, This card is really pretty, and very effective. I’m going to try to follow your tutorial, as I love this ‘scene’. Thank you.
Lots of love from Patricia xx
