Blog Blitz Featuring Decor Happy Birthday

Hi everyone!  I'm so excited to be here for the second day of the Poppystamps Blog Blitz and my first Poppystamps post!  For my card, I'm using the Decor Happy Birthday die.  I'm pretty much a sucker for any word die, but the weight of the font of this die is especially lovely.  Not too thin, but not too thick.  Just perfect to make a fun birthday cake card with one of the Cake Frosting Bag dies.  I love when a plan comes together;)

To start off my card I made the "cake" background using one of the Stitched Square Layers die.  Then I blended some coral ink onto a scrap piece of card stock and die cut 2 sets of "happy birthday" words.  I like to use blended ink because it gives some depth to the color.  To get that 3D look, I glued two layers of the word die cuts.  Using a matching marker, I colored around the white edges of my glued die cut.  Doesn't it look like frosting?

The last step was to create decorative flowers.  That's where the new Cottage Corner die came in.  This die has lots of embossing that reminds me of molded sugar flowers.  I die cut a few of the  corners and then fussy cut a few flowers and leaves. This is a great way to stretch your dies!  For color, I blended ink over each flower and leaf.

Thanks so much for letting me share my first Poppystamps card with you!  And thank you for such a warm welcome to the team!  Don't forget to leave a comment on this post for a chance to win the Decor Happy Birthday die!
