Red and White Samirah Butterfly

Hello and Happy Spring Blog Blitz.  Today I am most happy to bring you an easy card using dies from the fabulous Spring 2014 release.  When I say happy, I really mean HAPPY!  Wait until you see what the team has done with the new dies….can I say, I LOVE them! 

This is  how I made this card.  I die cut the Murana Butterfly on vellum and layered the Samirah Butterfly that I'd cut from a sparkly paper over it.  I love butterflies and the Samirah Butterfly is fast becoming a favorite.  After die cutting I had lots of red dots.  Well, I couldn't let them go to waste so I used them to show movement.  My sentiment was printed on vellum and heat embossed.  I then framed it with the same glitter paper I'd used for the butterfly.  The font I used is Bella Donna. 

When I first lay eyes on the Swirly Curl Border Outline I knew this die would be perfect for the holidays.  When the dies arrived I knew I wanted to use this die first.  I must admit I wasn't sure I'd need the Swirly Curl Border Background die, but I am sooooo very glad I ordered it.  I die cut this using a white sparkle paper and layered it over the Swirly Curl Border Outline.  This photo does not do the border justice.  Trust me, it's gorgeous!  I assembled the dies as shown layering them over a piece of white cardstock that had been dry embossed using an embossing folder which was then layered over a red base.  Do you want to see the inside? 

This time I used the Swirly Curl Border without the background die.  I layered the die cut over a piece of white cardstock.  I only glued the sides and bottom.  This created a place to slide a gift card, a photo or a note.  And look, another butterfly.  This time I used the Delaney Butterfly.  Pretty little one isn't it?  I die cut the Delaney Butterfly from sparkly paper.  These dies are so delicate, yet easy to cut from thicker cardstock.  And yes, those are more dots that fell from the wings.
