Panda Hugs
by Kim Singdahlsen

When you are in need of a cheerful card – whether it be “hugs” or “get well” or simply “hello” – you can’t go wrong with any of the Whittles! My mother-in-law recently had surgery so I needed a cheerful card. She might be even more of a Whittles fan than I am. I send regular cards to her but any card with a Whittle has a place of honor on her fireplace mantle. So there was no doubt that her card would include a Whittle and I realized that I had not used the Whittle Giant Panda

Does it get any cuter than this?  It’s a single die but it’s very easy to work with. I cut him in black and in white then I trimmed out the pieces I needed in white (the head and the belly) and layered them on top. The nose is actually trimmed out of the black piece but added on the very top.

I decided to go with the fun and bold Luscious Script Hugs and do it in black and white to match the panda.  Since I wanted a cheerful card, I added a rainbow of colors in the background.  Then for just one more touch of cheer, I cut the small flower twice from the Potpourri Flower Set. The leaves are trimmed out of the Orchard Leaf Square Frame.

I used a black gem for the center of the flower then I added just a couple of random gems for the sparkle!

I’m hoping this ends up on my mother-in-law’s fireplace mantle because that means it brightened her day.  I LOVE this hobby because I had a wonderful time making the card.  The charming panda smiled at me the entire time! And I know it will be meaningful for her and the sweet panda will smile at her too.  It’s just the perfect hobby, isn’t it?!
