Butterfly Hello

Whew, I don't know why we stress so much about Christmas….I blinked and it had raced past me.  I hope your Christmas was wonderful.  Mine was.  I spent time with my honey and my youngest son.  I spoke with the others.  I was able to catch up with other family members and friends that I speak to not nearly often enough.  As I sit smiling through the memories of Christmas now past, I look forward to what the new year will bring.  I hope 2015 will be kind to all of you.  

This is my first post of the New Year.  My resolution this year is to keep in closer contact with friends and family.  With that in mind, I am starting the year with a Hello card.  I wanted something that would be quick to make, pretty and would post for one first class stamp,  I think I accomplished all three.  

I will be making a set of these cards to keep on hand for when I need a little gift to share.  Im learning to use stencils, and since I've a few, I think I will be changing the back ground but keep with the hello and the butterfly.  Check out Memory Box and see all the beautiful stencils.  I might just start using stencils more often.  

I used a stencil adhesive to hold the stencil to the card stock.  It's nice because you don't have to reapply the adhesive each time.  I used Tim Holtz Worn Lipstick Distress ink to color the background.

I love the Samirah Butterfly die.  It's the perfect size for a 1/4 fold card.  I also love that I can use all the little dots to decorate my card.  And the Fancy Hello….well, I think it's the perfect amount of fancy.    I always worry about cutting glitter card stock.  I have to say, I've always had good success with Poppystamps dies and these two cut clean and release easily from the die.  I added a flower and some pen work using Wink of Stella pens and that finished the front of this card.  Even with sponging the stencil, I spent less than 15 minutes creating the front of this card.

See….just a few dots and it's done.  Remember, this card theme is Hello and I wanted to have enough room for a large note.  

I'm off for now.  I need to get this card into the mail.
