A Snowy Ride with Santa Penguin By Jyoti Adhikari
There’s nothing quite as cheerful as a little penguin racing through a snowy winter landscape! For my second card from the Poppystamps 2026 Holiday Cheer Release, I combined the adorable Santa Penguin, Winter Sled, and Merry Christmas Fluffy Script dies to create a playful Christmas scene. I love how the bright turquoise sky makes the traditional red, green, and white elements really pop.
Creating the Snowy Background

I started by creating a vibrant turquoise winter sky and added plenty of white splatters to give it the look of falling snow. The little white starry details scattered throughout the background add even more movement and make the scene feel wonderfully wintry. I layered several green pine trees across the background, varying their heights and placement to create the feeling of a forest in the distance.
Building the Winter Sled

The Winter Sled – Style 2799 became the perfect centerpiece for this card. I cut the seat from kraft cardstock for a natural wood look and used silver metallic cardstock for the beautiful curved runners. Instead of keeping the sled completely within the scene, I positioned it at an angle across the snowy hills. That little bit of movement makes it look as though it is actually gliding down the slope.
Santa Penguin Takes a Ride

Of course, the Santa Penguin – Style 2797 had to be the passenger! I kept him mostly traditional with black and white cardstock, tiny orange details, and a bright red Santa hat. I popped him up on the sled for extra dimension. Layered white stitched snowbanks underneath create several rolling hills and help emphasize the playful downhill motion of the sled.
A Bold Christmas Greeting

To finish the card, I used the Merry Christmas Fluffy Script – Style 2806 along the bottom. I cut the detailed lettering from crisp white cardstock and layered it over a turquoise shadow so the greeting coordinates perfectly with the snowy sky. I love that the sentiment is substantial enough to anchor the entire scene without taking attention away from that sweet little penguin.
This card was so much fun to put together, and I especially love the combination of the Santa Penguin, Winter Sled, and Merry Christmas Fluffy Script. The metallic sled runners, dimensional layers, snowy background, and bright color palette give this card such a happy winter feel. It’s definitely a Christmas card that makes me smile!
Hugs,
Jyoti
