Challenge Reminder – Holiday Joy

Hi friends! It’s a new month so a new challenge and this month’s theme is easy peasy – Anything Goes! The rules are simple – just create a project following the theme, use at least one Poppystamps image or die, and link it up on the challenge blog post. The challenge is not limited to cards – we’d love to see your page layouts, home decor, tags, and mixed media.  The choice is all yours. 

To inspire you to play along, I’ve created a Christmas card. Out of all the themes in the world, the holidays is one of my favorites. Who said “Christmas in July” has to end? I learned the hard way last year that it is never too early to get started on your holiday cards. So using the supplies seen below, I combined alcohol ink with some previously released products to make this festive card.

I started with my alcohol ink panel. On a piece of yupo paper, I applied alcohol ink in a variety of blue hues mixed with silver, metallic ink. I moved the ink with blending solution, isopropyl alcohol, and the blower tool. After my panel was covered, I splattered clean isopropyl alcohol and diluted, blue alcohol ink all over the panel for a lot of texture and varying sizes of splatters. I love doing this because it brings so much interest to your inked piece. Once dry, I adhered the alcohol ink panel to an A2 card base that I layered with a piece of blue paper from the Stormy Blue paper pack.

Next, using the Stained Glass Snowflake Window die, I die cut it twice from heavyweight, white cardstock. I adhered the layers together with liquid glue. I also die cut the Snowflake die from a piece of glittery silver cardstock. To add a bit more sparkle, I inlaid several pieces from the silver die cut into the white die cut. I did not want to cover the entire design to ensure the background was still a strong focus. I added a single fairy jewel in the middle of the snowflake.

For the sentiment, I use the Joy Honey Script die from Birch Press Designs. I die cut it three times – from vellum, the same glittery silver cardstock as the snowflake, and dark blue cardstock. I adhered the layers together with liquid glue, offsetting each layer a little. And that’s it! A simple, but pretty Christmas card.
