Chirping in Bloom: Sweet Pink Bird Cards with Nordic Details
by Jyoti Adhikari

I had so much fun creating these two cheerful handmade cards using some of my favorite dies from Poppystamps and patterned paper from Memory Box. Both cards feature the Nordic Bold Bird Craft Die and the Nordic Pretty Petal Flower Die, layered beautifully over the striking Glimmering Gladiola patterned paper. While the layout is similar, I personalized each with a different sentiment and floral accents to suit different occasions. Let’s take a closer look at both!

Card One: Best Wishes Birdie

Building the Background
For this card, I began with an A2-sized white card base in a vertical orientation. I trimmed a panel of the vibrant pink leafy patterned paper from the Glimmering Gladiola 6×6 pad by Memory Box and adhered it directly down slightly towards the left of the card front. This lively backdrop sets the tone for the bright and playful focal point.

Creating the Floral Nest
To add a grounded base for the bird, I die-cut both the layers of Nordic Pretty Petal Flower  from white cardstock  I used the white on white version for a touch of subtle texture. The soft texture from the etched detail adds elegance while keeping the design light.

Crafting the Nordic Bold Bird
Using the Nordic Bold Bird die, I die-cut all the bird parts from white  cardstock. I blended pinks and brown ink on the pieces to give dimension, especially on the wings and belly. I assembled the bird with foam tape for extra depth and perched it right over the flower.

Finishing Touches
To complete the card, I added a few coordinating tiny die-cut flowers around the bird and topped everything with a hot foil sentiment strip that says “Best Wishes.” The warmth of the copper foil complements the bird’s beak and wing tones, tying the card together beautifully.

Card Two: Birthday Songbird

Bright Center Panel
Much like the first card, I started this one with a clean A2 white card base and added the same vibrant pink patterned paper down the left side. The bold contrast between the background and the white card base creates a striking frame for the elements to shine.

Decorating with a Floral Base
For this version, I created the Nordic Pretty Petal Flower in white and gold glitter to contrast the pink tones. The gold glitter details add a fresh and unexpected touch and help the flower stand out beneath the bird. I arranged the petals and secured them to the center of the card.

Pretty in Pink Birdie
Once again, I used the Nordic Bold Bird die, again this time chose a slightly richer pink for the bird’s body and a warmer brown for the wing and tail. Soft ink blending on the edges gave the bird a realistic look. I attached the assembled bird over the flower using foam adhesive to make it pop.

Birthday Sentiment and Details
I added a hot foil sentiment that reads “Happy Birthday” in metallic copper. For added charm, I scattered small coordinating die-cut flowers across the background. These delicate embellishments give the card a whimsical and celebratory feel, perfect for a birthday greeting.

Each of these cards was a joy to make! The Nordic dies from Poppystamps paired with the bold patterned paper from Memory Box really bring these pink birds to life. Whether you’re sending best wishes or celebrating a birthday, these little birdies are sure to brighten someone’s day.
