Happy Birthday Alpaca!

Hi it’s Rachel here with a herd of alpacas to wish you a happy birthday! I used the Poppystamps “Nordic Joyful Lamb” and the “Nordic Cheerful Lamb” dies. Where did I get the alpacas? Please scroll on to find out!
When I saw these adorable lambs I immediately thought they could also look like alpacas. My daughter had recently attended a workshop learning to spin wool on an alpaca farm in Ireland so it made sense I imagined them on a card. It was very easy to turn these lambs into alpacas. I cut the piece with ears in half and switched sides so the ears faccd the opposite way and I moved them closer to the top of the head. I should also mention all alpacas don’t have the furry tufts of hair on their heads and sometimes their ears are placed lower. I think I love them all.
To create this card, I die cut the “Nordic Cheerful and Joyful Lamb” dies 9 times from watercolor paper. I painted them in realistic colors except for the one in teal. I cut out a sweater in white and the underpart in vellum. I adorned the tuft and sweater with Stickles glitter glue. Next I glued the pieces together.
Then I cut a cardfront from the Poppystamps Deep Turquoise cardstock. I stamped the sentiment from the “Whittle Racing Giraffe Kit” on white and trimmed it and layered a white strip ;underneath. I chose a Happy Birthday sentiment on a black disc from Memory Box.
Finally I arranged the alpacas on the card. I made sure to have the sentiment on the darker alpacas and the black disc on a lighter one. This is important to give enough contrast to stand out.
