Hello Sweet Friend
by Allison Frazier

Hello, Poppystamps friends! I am excited to be back on the blog today sharing this sweet card featuring the new Nordic Happy Fox. But wait…is it a fox or is it a cat? You get to choose because there are dies included in this set to make either one! How fun is that?? Obviously, I chose to create a cat today. This Nordic Happy Fox is part of the new Nordic Forest release. If you haven’t seen the release yet, be sure to check it out!
I started my card by using the beautiful Fanciful Flowers Stencil Set. This set has seven stencils! Normally, if you want to get this many colors from a stencil set, you have to mask off part of the stencils to ink them up in different colors. But with this set, you just need to ink up each stencil in a different color, which makes it so much easier and faster. And you don’t have to use seven colors. I only used four. I just went heavier handed with the yellow, pink and green inks on a later stencil. I used Pinkfresh Studio Inks in Ballet Slipper, Lemon Whip and Fresh Pear. The blue color is Tumbled Glass Distress Ink.

Once I was finished with my card panel, I set it aside to work on my cat. I cut all of the pieces from white card stock and ink blended them to get the colors. I used the same Ballet Slipper ink for the ears and the dress (and sweater). I also used the same pink to add some cheeks with a small brush. There is a different tail and other features if you want to make this a fox.

I chose to offset the cat at the bottom of my card and used the Nordic Heart Pattern Rings to pop her up off the panel. I used the second largest ring from that die, cutting it twice, and glueing vellum onto the back. For my sentiment, I went back to a favorite that I just can’t seem to stop using, and that is the Whittle Sayings Stamp Set. This set is retired, but check out the Whittle Wild Animal Sentiments for something similar. I also used the retired Word Balloons die set for the sentiment. The “hello” comes from the Hello Spring die set. I cut that from my favorite black glossy cardstock.

To finish the card, I added a few pink jewels into the centers of some pink flowers. I hope this card brings a smile to your face today. Thanks so much for joining us on the blog.
