Hot Foiled Magic in No Time!
by Sphoorti

Hello, Poppy Peeps! It’s Sphoorti here, bringing you a quick, vibrant, and mass-producible rainbow hugs card that’s all about color, shine, and a little bit of crafty magic!

The Magic of Hot Foiling (With a Twist!)

This card may look like I spent forever on it, but honestly, it was super quick and easy! If you’re looking for a design that’s perfect for mass production, this is it!

I started with Neenah Solar White 110 lb cardstock and hot foiled a Nordic Cover Plate design (which is sadly discontinued, but a very similar option is the 2583 Nordic Floral Plate craft die). But here’s the fun part: this is the negative foil!

If you’re not familiar, hot foiling leaves a positive image on your cardstock, but instead of wasting the leftover foil, I used a solid hot foil plate to get the negative version, making the most out of my supplies! The result? A crisp, delicate, and intricate design that absolutely shines—all with minimal effort!

The Best Part? You Can Do This With Almost ANY Die!

Here’s a little secret: you don’t even need a hot foil plate for this technique! Any regular die, letterpress-style die, or intricate cutting die will work with a hot foil machine! So if you’ve got a stash of dies just waiting for some love, this is a great way to stretch your supplies and get a whole new look from them. I’ve linked to a bunch of dies you can use to get a similar effect, scroll to the supply list for more information!

A Sentiment That Stands Out

The Hugs sentiment (cut using the 2600 Hugs Moonlight Script craft die) has some extra dimension! Here’s how I made it pop:

1️⃣ I die-cut four layers of Neenah Solar White 110 lb cardstock and stacked them for thickness.
2️⃣ I then die-cut one more layer using glitter cardstock and adhered it on top for a sparkly, high-end look!

Layering the sentiment this way adds beautiful dimension and durability, making it stand out perfectly against the bold background.

Quick, Easy & Perfect for Mass Production!

  • No complicated techniques – just hot foiling and die-cutting!
  • Works with almost ANY die – no need for special hot foil plates!
  • Minimal assembly – you can prep multiple backgrounds and sentiments at once.
  • Bold impact with little effort – perfect for when you need a batch of cards in no time!
