Challenge Reminder – Cute Critters

Hello Poppystamps friends! I am popping in to remind you about this month’s challenge! On the first of every month we announce the challenge, and you get most of the month to join us. Just link up your design with an online gallery like Flickr, Splitcoaststampers or Instagram. We select one card that we like best as the monthly winner and then randomly select one entry as the winner of a $20 gift card to the store.
For this month’s challenge, our theme is “Cute Critters.” And that couldn’t be more up my alley! There are so many cute critters to choose from, but I chose the adorable Bunny Faces. And speaking of bunnies, have you seen the new “Nordic Spring” release?? I can’t wait to share some cards with you soon featuring the bunnies from that collection.
My card today is a pretty simple grid design. To add some interest, I chose the Cream Woodgrain Paper for my background. I ink blended some Antique Linen Distress Ink around the edges to add even more interest. For all of the die cuts on this card, I started with white card stock and then used Distress Inks to color them. I colored the ears for each bunny the same color pink. The flowers behind each bunny come from the Nordic Flower Heads set. I used one of the largest flowers from that set and ink blended each one a different color.
For the sentiment, I chose this adorable stamp from an older Poppystamps set called Whittle Sayings. It’s one of my favorite sentiment sets to use with critters because it has very specific sentiments for many animals, including mice, deer, moose, owls, ducks, and squirrels, just to name a few! I white heat embossed the sentiment onto black paper and then trimmed it down to fit on my card.
