Masculine Birthday Card
by Allison Frazier

Hello, Poppystamps friends! I am excited to be back on the blog today sharing a masculine birthday card. It’s definitely that time of year when I think about replenishing my stash of birthday cards, and I’m always in need of some masculine ones. Plus, anytime that I get to play with plaid paper is a win for me!
I started this card with the new Basic Birthday Candles set. I cut seven candles from various patterns from the Nutmeg Plaid paper pack from Memory Box. These plaids definitely have more autumn tones in them and could even be used for Christmas, but I love how they worked on this masculine card. I chose a deep green panel to set them against. I did stack each candle onto two more layers of cardstock to give the candles dimension, as well as give the candles a white wick. I just trimmed the wicks off of the plaid pieces when I glued the layers together.

For the flames on the candles, I cut them out of white cardstock and then ink blended them with the following distress ink colors: Scattered Straw, Crackling Campfire and Fired Brick. I added a thin foam dot behind the candles to pop them up on top of the wicks.

For the sentiment, I chose the Happy Birthday Poe Script die. I cut it out from cream woodgrain paper, although you can’t really see the detail of it in the picture. I stacked this layer on top of two more layers that I had cut from white card stock. I then added very thin foam strips to the backs of the letters that weren’t overlapping the candles. I carefully adhered the words, using liquid glue for the portion that did overlap the candles.

That is it for my card today. I hope it brings a smile to your face. Thanks so much for joining us today.

Hi Allison, I love this card, it is kind of CAS but quite impactful, I adore the candles die cuts, and the sentiment is beautiful.
Lots of love from Patricia xx
