Christmas Lantern

Hello! Nancy here, and I have a Christmas card for you today. Poppystamps has some gorgeous new holiday dies in the store, and I thought I’d bring you some inspiration with one or 2 of them.
Simple Lantern Oval is one of the new craft dies, and I paired it with another newbie, a sentiment die called, Snowy Merry Christmas.
Here’s a shot of what I did… I knew I wanted to use some of the new Memory Box designer papers with the gold running through, and chose this black and white plaid. Then I die cut the lantern die 4 times, once with black glitter paper, and 3 times with plain black cardstock. I traced one of the ovals on white and cut it out by hand.
The white oval was given a glow with some Squeezed Lemon Oxide Ink before gluing the lantern layers together, with the glitter on top. Kinda looks like the lantern is all ‘aglow’. I cut the ‘merry Christmas’ sentiment 3 times from glitter card stock and carefully cut the white snow off the merry, before adding it to the top of the black layer.
I love how the red shadow gives it a nice pop of color!
Speaking of pop, you can see how all those layers gives dimension to the card.
