Folk Art Flowers
by Michele K. Henderson

Hello Crafty Friends!

Summer is in full swing, and all the hot, humid weather has returned! The "new normal" for many of us means that some of our old familiar summer activities have been put on temporary hold for a while, but there's always a silver lining, right? More time to craft, more time to research and learn new techniques, and more time to experiment and play with some familiar old Poppystamps goodies.

I have been researching some beautiful Eastern European folk art designs, and have become super inspired by the bright colors, the symmetry of the designs, and the striking black or crisp white backgrounds of these gorgeous floral patterns. So I tried a little fun petal piecing and layering using the Poppystamps Fun Floral Sidekick Frame and Stencil Set, the Greenhouse Potted Plants Sidekick Frame and Stencil Set, and the Garden Leaves and Berries. Take a look!

This card was so much fun to make! I used a rich black card background with a turquoise blue frame. Then I cut out an arrangement of different colored petal and flower pieces, and centered them in a symmetrical design.

I added Garden leaves and Berries in three different shades of green, and finished with two tiny birds from the Greenhouse Potted Plants Sidekick Frame and Stencil Set. Simple, yet very striking with a little bit of a folk art vibe.

We'd love to see how you'll get creative and crafty with our beautiful garden collection from Poppystamps!

Thanks so much for joining us today!

  1. How wonderful! We were supposed to go to Poland next month, but it looks like we can’t go. We wanted to see the Folk Art on the houses, etc. I might need these dies 🙂
