Halloween Fun
by Dana Kirby

Hi Friends! I am happy to be back today sharing a fun Halloween card with you all. How is your Halloween crafting coming along? I love to send out a few Halloween cards this time of year and the latest release from Poppy Stamps definitely has everything I need to create some great cards! The layout I chose today would work well for so many occasions. Let’s get started, shall we?

I started my card by creating a color block piece in Halloween colors. I began by cutting .25″ cardstock strips in orange, lime green and purple. I then used a tape runner and attached the strips of cardstock to a piece of copy paper. I have found using thin (copy) paper for this technique makes it is easier to trim my panel down with my paper cutter. Once I had all the strips attached, I trimmed the panel down to 4 x 3.25 inches. I then attached this to my A2 card base.

Next, I die cut a Pointed Square Frame from black and white cardstock. I then used the inside piece of the frame and die cut the Smiling Jack O Lantern from both pieces of cardstock. This gave me both pieces I needed, the frame and the inside piece with the Jack O Lantern. I inlaid these two pieces together and mounted them onto my striped panel. Lastly, I inlaid the black pieces (eyes, nose and mouth) back into the Jack O Lantern to give it a finished look…he just makes me smile!

To finish my card, I stamped my sentiment from the Halloween Fun stamp set directly onto my card base.

Thanks for joining me today! I hope I inspired you to create a few Halloween cards of your own.

  2. HI Dana, What a fun halloween card this is, I absolutely love your technique with the quarter inch strips of coloured cards attached to copy paper, a fabulous idea, and the ‘Jack o lantern’ finishes this card beautifully.
Lots of love from Patricia xx
