Summer Release Blog Blitz Begins!

It’s a great day for a visit!  Our Summer Release Blog Blitz begins TODAY!  That means we’re sharing projects made with the new release and offering some prizes on every blog blitz post for the next two weeks.  You can see all the new release dies HERE in the store.  You’ll find lots of new WHITTLE style critters that are sure to make you smile! 

I love to make cards with scenes!    This Whittle Koala has found himself up a tree surrounded by snappers!  But it’s a beautiful sunny day so if he waits them out he’ll be OK!  There’s a message in there.. most of our problems are only temporary! 

This card starts with a background of clouds made by using the Stitched Cloudline die as a stencil.  Simply hold the die cut in place and ink around the curvy edge.  Move the die cut up every inch or so and ink it again.  You can ink as many  (or as few) clouds as you like. Next I added Old Paper distress ink to the bottom half of the card to create a sandy beach.  I splattered a darker shade of distress ink over the sandy bottom half using a piece of paper to shield the clouds. 

All that’s left to do is to add the different images to create a scene.   I added Whittle Mounds, Gaters, Crabs,  Palm Tree, Clouds and Koala.  Usually I cut from colored card stock. This time I tried something new and inked scrap pieces of white card stock with distress ink.   I cut the dies from these pieces.   You could also ink the images AFTER you cut them, but this kept the images flat and wrinkle free. 

I think the details really help bring a scene to life.  I added bitty silly eyes to the gators and extra branches to the palm trees.  If you love the Whittle style dies then you’ll NEED the Whittle Everyday stamp set.  It’s got lots of punny sentiments that work well with the animals.

  15. Hi Jeanne, A lovely ‘scene’, the koala is using the ‘waiting game’ to the ‘gators’ give up and go away, then the cute koala can come down. All the ‘Whittle’ critters are cute and I love them all. I adore how you created this background, it is truly lovely.
