A Gift This Christmas
by Donna Peachey

Christmas wrapping paper, tags, bows, gifts…

They are part of the Christmas tradition for many of us.

So I wanted to create a card that combines these features with the Simple Bethlehem Stitched Frame craft die.

Combining old and new as a 'Christmas Gift'.

Here's how it was made…

I've started with the Simple Bethlehem Stitched die, cut 3 times out of black card stock.

Using Tim Holtz Core'dinations for the top layer provides a lovely pitted surface that works well with the gilding wax colours I've chosen to use, but if you don't have any you could always try an embossing folder.

Glue the frames together, then cut a piece of cardboard to size as shown.

Here's all the stamping you'll need to do – for this part, anyway!

Don't worry about precise stamping for the Studio Blotter stamps as that's not the look we are going for.

The other stamps are all from the Christmas Time stamp set.

I've heat embossed 'Believe' so it stands out more on what's quite a busy card.

Once the Stitched Frame has been glued to the cardboard, cut out a silver base layer that's slightly bigger all 'round and distress the edges of it.  Then leave it to one side for the moment.

Using twine, add a piece from top to bottom and attach from the back.  Do the same from left to right before adding a bow and an acetate Heart Taglet.

Once you are happy with this (you may want to tweak your twine a little), attach to the silver base layer and leave to dry.

The base of this card uses the beautiful fonts of the Christmas Time stamp set to create a faux 'wrapping paper' look.

Other than heat embossing the word 'Peace' in red, the rest is all first and second generation stamping with black ink.

Add a strip of corrugated paper that's been ripped top and bottom before attaching at an angle from left to right.

Then add the Stitched Bethlehem scene and some sequin stars.

The final touch is simply to add a smidge of gilding wax to the corners.

Does it look like a wrapped gift to you?

I hope it does, at least in part.

Thanks so much for stopping by today…
