Blog Blitz! Vintage Valentines
by Jennifer Svare

Hello!  I absolutely love hot air balloons, vintage postcards, and Valentine’s Day!  For this card, I got to combine all three and I’m excited to share how I did these cards in the video below.

The brand new Hot Air Balloons are very fun and versatile dies. They are a great size to work with and the large one can even be a stand-alone focal point if one wanted.  I used the larger one from the set, masked off panels so I could color them individually, and added a little surprise addition to the balloon…  a decorative heart border complete with stitching! I used the Stitched Heart Curve die to do this and was so pleased with how the curve lined up perfectly.

Gold thread was used prior to inlaying the hearts to add some balloon strings, and a coat of glossy accents isn’t necessarily vintage, but I just couldn’t resist.

Nuvo drops were used to create a basket full of greenery and flowers.

There was no way I could leave out the incredible Swirled Love die, and so a second card was made.  These sentiment die scripts are incredible.

In my video, I’ll also show some fun vintage postcards I found at an auction recently. So much fun!

Notice below, the frame is slightly crooked.  I actually left it this way on purpose.  Vintage postcards have very “handmade” imperfections in them, which adds for a lot of fun embracing “mistakes” that I would normally not use.  What IS perfect, however, is the incredible Be My Valentine Postcard Script die – I just love this!

To leave the oval area clear of the embossing folder impression, I used an oval embossing diffuser plate.  This also allowed me to keep the card background to a single layer.
