Poppystamps January Challenge: Snow Day
by Michele K. Henderson

Hello Everyone!

There is so much going on here on the Poppystamps blog, you won't want to miss a thing! In addition to our amazing blog hop, where you could win every day, we have an exciting January challenge we would love you to join! This month, our theme is Snow Day! Create a card or project with your idea for Snow Day, and link it up here on the blog for your chance to win some brand new blog candy!

Growing up in Wisconsin, Snow Days meant winter fun and friends! Now that I live in the deep South, I sometimes miss seeing the beautiful winter landscapes, quiet and white,  fluffy snow covering everything like a blanket. At night, hues of purples and greens would wave through the starry sky like a searchlight. For my Snow Day inspiration, I created a simple shaker, crispy snow white and filled with sparkly sequins.

If you've never made a shaker card before, let 2018 be the year you give it a try! The idea is simple; create a "well" out of foam tape or craft foam, fill it with sequins, then add your cover panel. Make sure you've added a window too, which can be made from just about anything you have in the house, such as plastic packaging, or a recycled clam shell. I usually make a lot of shaker cards, since I love they way they sound, so I go to the office store and get a pack of clear computer pages. You can also purchase individual sheets too if you'd like to start small.

You can fill your shakers with all kinds of fun materials too! I used purple, green, and blue sequins to remind me of the Northern Lights! You can use a mix of sequins, tiny seed beads, tiny confetti or paper cuts, chunky glitter, coffee beans, be creative! One time I made a shaker with black Tahitian sand, a few tiny shells and a magical "pearl"!

You can make a Snow Day shaker, or some other Winter fun Snow Day idea, using at least one Poppystamps die or stamp, and you might be randomly selected to win a $20 gift certificate to use in the Poppystamps shop! We can't wait to see what you'll create!

Thanks so much for joining us today!
