Two for One Cards Video and Giveaway by Dave Brethauer
Hello everyone!
Since everyone is short on time these days, I thought it would be a good idea to put together a fun video on how to make multiple versions of cards at once. This is definitely a timesaver – and is really useful when putting together batches of handmade cards for gifts, or to stock up on cards just to have on hand.

These are all tips that are easy to do – and make the most of your prep time. Simple things like cutting the die out 5 times, instead of just one time – might as well make multiple cuts if you have all the supplies out anyway! So take a look at the video and pick up a few tips on getting a bunch of cards done in no time!
(Watch this in HD on YouTube by clicking here)

I couldn't stop making these rainbow cards – it was fun piecing these all back together like a puzzle! Notice that there are 6 rows and 6 colors. So in the video you'll see it was easy to make 6 cards. I used the Tailored Stitches and the Pretty Stitches to make the rows of rainbow colors – these are fun to use as borders on cards, but when they are stacked like this they take on a whole new look.
You could choose whatever color scheme you wanted – autumn, pastel, holiday, or monochromatic. The sky is the limit!

And you can try changing the orientation of the design too – making it a tall card rather than a horizontal card.

So, lets talk about that "hello" – this is the Little Halo Hello and it comes with the cursive hello and then an outer "halo". I've attached the "hello" (cut out of ble cardstock) to the white halo to make it stand out against the rainbow background. This card is so bright and festive – perfect for the colorful people in your life.
OK – quick challenge, try saying "Little Halo Hello" five times fast…

And you will notice that the color position shifts on each card – each time you use a strip of color on a card, then that color appears in a different position on the next card.

I did play around with the "halo" – it needed to stand out, and since it was competing with (literally) every color of the rainbow, I went for a bright white glittery cardstock. You can see up close here that it works against all those different shades – and the glitter is really eye-catching.

Next up I made a card with a"halo" window cut out – I used the Big Halo Hello die to make the "halo" window and then Big Luxe Hello die to add the large hello inside. That Ric Rac Stitches is a must have for your studio – it adds a jaunty element to the border that always makes a card a little more interesting. I cut it out of a bright orange cardstock – pink and orange is a great summer combo…

I thought this was a great design that was easy to replicate so I "double up" by varying the color scheme and message. For the sentiment, I used the CL451 Sentiments of Hello Clear Stamp Set – and then just use a different border from the Ric Rac Stitches die set for the bright green trim. The MISTI is a terrific tool to help line up the sentiment with the opening – and I used it several times in the video.

And here is another variation – same composition but I paired the 1822 Big Halo Love and the 1825 Big Luxe Love with the CL450 Sentiments of Love Clear Stamp set. The Big Halo Love comes with the Halo and a thin cursive Hello – but the cool thing is the Big Luxe Love also fits inside that halo. You can make a lot of combinations this way!

The negative space around the "love" can be filled with whatever color you want – I just chose a darker shade of teal.
And all of the greetings in the CL450 Sentiments of Love work with the "love" – perfect for a bunch of different occasions.

Now remember that I die cut the halo out of the white cardstock on the previous card? I saved that cutout and use it on this one – two for one!
I used the thin "hello" from the Big Halo Hello die over that piece and voila, another quick card.

I wanted the background to be a little more interesting so I sponged it with a little bit of Distress Ink in Squeezed Lemonade and Distress Oxide Ink in Broken China - followed with a spritz of water. Don't worry too much about blending – most of this color gets covered up, so we are just interested in having a little bit of color peeking through.
Add a sentiment from the CL451 Sentiments of Hello set and you're done!

OK – now back to that 1826 Little Halo Hello die, it is perfect for making shaker cards!

Since you have all the supplies out – switch out the colors so that you can have various shades of birthday shaker cards – and fill them with sequins, or glitter, or whatever is rolling around in your craft drawers!

Again, this is an opportunity to be efficient and make multiple cards at once – a simple design and having all the supplies out makes it easy to produce a bundle of cards all at once.

And don't toss out those leftover die cuts! They make great cards too!

I glued those leftover "halo"s onto a card that I sponged with Distress Oxide ink in Fossilized Amber – a perfect color to combine with some shiny gold cardstock for the "hello".

I hope you enjoy the video – I ended up with a stack of cards by the time I was done filming and they will be put to good use!

Now then, how would you like to win a set of Hello dies? For a chance to win the Little Halo Hello, Big Luxe Hello and Big Halo Hello just leave a comment below by 11:59pm EST on 7/27/17. The winner will be randomly selected and emailed to claim their prize!

Oh my goodness, I love your fun cards full of a punch of color. The “Hello” and “Love” die cuts are just perfect for them. I will share a little FYI with you, in case you don’t know. It was Thomas Edison who phrased the word “Hello”. He encouraged those who answered his phone to use it and it caught on to become a common phrase. I personally have always liked the phrase myself and find it can be used in so many situations.
Thanks for showing a wonderful way to use the stitches border dies. I was debating on whether I needed them and now I guess I do. Very versatile. So many great samples. Thanks again.
I love all of these cards! My favorite idea was to tape together the border dies so you can cut the exact pattern multiple times. Thanks for a chance to win the “Hello” dies!
