Summer Leaves

The other day, right before a summer rain, a big gust of wind blew dozens of mottled yellow leaves into a swirling spin right outside my craft room window. I realized then it's that funny time of the summer, when the first signs of autumn begin to blow in, and the temperatures continue to climb.

All those mottled leaves inspired me to try a fun watercolor painting technique. I pulled out a few pearlized watercolor paints and flicked my painty wet brush onto a piece of watercolor paper. THAT was fun! After it dried, I then added a few Poppystamps dies to create a summer garden scene. I used soft felt for the small yellow blooms, leaves, and banner in the corner, with black pearls in the center.

I used quite a few dies in order to create this shimmery garden scene. Sometimes a single leaf or a small bird from a larger set allows you to create very tiny details that look beautiful when you put them all together.
You can find great inspiration and new ideas for all your Poppystamps dies right here on our blog from our team of talented designers. We have so many wonderful surprises coming your way very soon, that you won't want to miss a single post!
