Embossing Die Cuts

Hi everyone, Sue here.  Today I want to talk about using other mediums on our die cuts to add texture and visual interest.

Most of the time we use white or coloured card stock with our dies and may use a medium such as ink, paint or glitter.  But what about using embossing powders or flock on die cuts? These products have been around for ages and are inexpensive to add to our stash.  They also come in oodles of different colours.

I die cut the Weeping Willow Branches from white card stock, used a Versamark ink pad (or any clear embossing ink) to cover the die cut, sprinkled it with a verdigris embossing powder (there are several colours in this powder) and heat set it.  Such an easy way to get some texture.

I did the same thing with one of the Friendly Kitties die cut, this time using an embossing powder that has several shades of brown and brown glitter in it.

For the last die cut I added double sided adhesive to white card stock, die cut the kitty and added fun flock on top of the adhesive.  Instant kitty softness!

I used textured card stock for the card base and for the grass to add visual interest.  I also cut another Weeping Willow, this time from vellum to place behind the embossed Weeping Willow. This also adds depth and texture.
