A Gilded Autumn

Hi everyone! Sue here with my first post as a design team member.

Fall is in full swing here in Canada so I couldn't resist making a leafy card using Gilding Flakes. Gilding Flakes is another name for Metal Leafing/Gold Leafing and it is making a return to the crafty world.  Here' a couple versions of leafing.

One is loose flakes and the other is a thin sheet.  The leafing will adhere to anything sticky and works really well with dry adhesive.

For the focal leaf image I added double sided adhesive to my cardstock and ran it through my die cutting machine with the Maple Leaf Die.  I peeled off the release paper, covered the sticky surface with the metal leaf flakes and burnished it into the card stock.  I just love the variegated colours on the leaf, so pretty and if you look closely you can still see the embossed veins on the leaf.

For my background I die cut a bunch of leaves from kraft card stock using the Maple Leaf Border Die and I adhered them to kraft card stock.  It's a subtle look and adds some great texture to the card.

I also added double sided adhesive to the edges of the card base and gilded those as well.  Since there's quite a bit of metallic shimmer I decided to keep the card simple and just added some silk ribbon that I dyed with Distress Inks.
